HyperDSC...High Performance DSC Technique
Is your sample being changed by conventional DSC analysis?..........Then HyperDSC can offer you extra information
What is HyperDSC?
HyperDSC is the use of controlled fast Heating and Cooling rates, often in excess of 300°C/min to analyse exactly what effects these have on your materials.
This can only be achieved using the unique small furnace design of double furnace DSC, conventional single furnace DSC's cannot heat at the rates used in HyperDSC
Why use HyperDSC?
The increased scan rate gives significantly higher sensitivity, because the increased scan rate leads to higher heat flow. So you can identify transitions that were hard to see using conventional DSC
Faster Experimental turnaround times can be achieved. With scan rates much increased it is possible to run many more samples in the working day.
With the abilility to have fast controlled heating and cooling rates it is possible to come close to mimicking your process conditions that are experienced by your samples during production.
What information can HyperDSC give me?
HyperDSC allows the Study of the effect of scan rate on the polymorphic transtions of Pharmaceuticals. Have you made more than one polymorph or does your sample convert due to the slow scan rate ?
Fast identification of Polymeric Materials - Multilayered polymer samples can be identified
Effect of Controlled fast cooling rate on the finished product- Is your sample crystalline or amorphous defending on the cooling rate?
Does a slow heating rate during analysis give a false picture of your finished product? - Does your sample recrystallise as it melts during a slow scan?
HyperDSC scans allow the testing of very small samples due to the increased sensitivity
HyperDSC can show glass transitions with much increased sensitivity and less time
